The Concord Hotel was in the Borscht Belt in the Catskills, known for its resort industries in the 1950s,1960s and 1970s. Located in Kiamesha Lake, New York it was the largest in the area, and the last to close in 1998. It was a kosher enterprise catering mostly to Jewish vacationers.

Our contact with it was there a very large trade show hosted there every year associated with the heating and air conditioning market, first as a Sundstrand company, and then as Suntec Industries. We had a fairly large show booth which took the better part of a day to assemble. All the Sales managers and Sales and Marketing department personnel were involved.

There was a golf course in the vicinity that was known as the Monster. At over 7000 yards and a par 72, it was a challenge to golfers at any level. There was a rumor that the pros didn’t want to play it. however the LPGA has a tournament there, so i think this was just a rumor.

We enjoyed the vacation atmosphere doing this trade show, although taking customers to dinner involved a lot of driving through wooded areas.

WE were all sad when it closed, as all other trade shows paled y comparison to this one. But we still have great memories.
