Today is the third of June. Many years ago, I was in the shower, and Martha was getting dressed for work. during those days we listened to Bob Collins on WGN radio in the mornings. We were both big followers of his program. I heard him ask the question, what is significant about today. I shouted out to Martha to call in and tell them it is a sleepy dusty delta day. When I got out of the shower, i asked her if she had called. She replied no. When I asked her why not, she questioned my sanity.
About a half hour later, someone called in to the show. They told Bob that it was a sleepy dusty delta day. They won all kinds of prizes including sports tickets, restaurant tickets, and a couple of airline tickets. she said i should have explained it better.She was probably right.
However, I still remember Bobby Gentry and a medley of her hit “Ode to Billy Joe”,
