The actual filming of the video was quite an experience. It was filmed in the old Midway Theater, which was unused and barely heated. We filmed in the dead of winter. We hire Jim Huffington as the producer and one professional actor. Jim insisted that I be in the production. It was so cold in there that we wore moon boots with our suits and ties. The heat from the flood lights were the only thing keeping our breath from fogging.

We used our big trade show booth for the setting. The script had been produced earlier in the comfort of the factory using the Suntec Installation and Service Manual as a guide. I was stunned at how many hours it took to film a thirty-minute video. Misspoken words, timing, eye movement, hand and arm movement all had to be choreographed to Jim’s perfection. Facial expression based on the topic and wording were a must. I developed a great deal of respect for those in the entertainment industry. Miraculously wee finished that portion of the video.

Next was the filming of the furnaces and equipment being serviced and personnel to act in it. We used factory personnel as actors and faked up part of the plant dining room to look like a basement furnace location. Ray, one of our electricians played the role of serviceman. He was concerned about his lines and how he was hesitant in some of the scenes. However, he was a little miffed when I told him we weren’t using his voice, we would dub the sound in later.

It all came together and was published, and thousands of copies are around North America helping the oil heat service industry do their jobs.
