When Martha, my wife and best friend passed away two and half years ago, my daughters thought I would just waste away. I was truly sadder than I have ever been in my life but was able to cope. So, when I would cook something i would send them a picture of it to show I ws surviving. I had to make some adjustments, as cooking for one is a whole new ball game. In July 2024, Julie and her friend Katie decided I needed an Instagram account.

No, no, I said, you know my opinion on Face Book and such accounts with their toxic atmospheres. Also, I am too old for such a thing. But they were insistent and i finally acquiesced and signed up for one. I was given the name BillMitchell992 and started posting pictures of Things i had cooked or created. I had about 50 followers which as I recall were mostly my daughters’ friends. Basically, I got bored with it.

Starting in February of 2025 I got an idea to start posting videos. I had made breakfast for Martha for a long time. We kind of referred to this as Martha’s big breakfast on Saturday mornings. So, I posted the video and felt like I was having fun again. Then, on Sunday mornings I would go to 7:00 AM Mass, come home and create a great breakfast. I would post it telling my audience how i had gone to church and prayed for them, naming all the sects of religion.

I started getting complaints about who i was leaving out of my prayers. Me and the good Lord had an agreement that we would cover all people regardless of race creed or color. I started getting blessings from all over the world.

During the week I would post breakfasts of cereal and half a bagel and some fruit, and a hot cup of coffee. Suddenly my account went viral, or as they tell me had 20,000 followers. I knew nothing about all this, but it has brought a lot of fun into my life. I presently have over 38,000 followers and cannot get over how friendly they are. They inspire my day, and I look forward to the next day. My son in law Shane had a Tee shirt made for me. I think it is priceless.
