Many people who knew Martha and me, probably thought I was verbally dominant because I did most of the talking. Some would probably think it was my way of covering up my shyness. I have no idea. However, I can tell you that she could carry her own. I watched her many times on television explaining things about the Visitor and Convention Bureau both in Rockford and in Beloit. I was always amazed t her ability to speak off the cuff. I never saw her get tripped up.
And there were many times when she got me. One of the most memorable was one time I was asked in front of her how long we had been married. I replied that we had been happily married for ten years, and ten out of fifteen wasn’t a bad average. She immediately stuck in, “Let me tell you, they weren’t consecutive”.
Just one of the many times I came in second.

I’ve read a few of your posts about her now, and she sounds like such a vibrant and fun spirit. Thank you for sharing your memories 🙂

Hi Bill , Burt told me about your blogs.
I found them.
Wanted to let you know I miss Martha, we really connected . I am so glad we got to spend that month in Florida just before Covid.
I reconnected with Fred recently and he is doing okay.
As you likely know we cancelled our trip this year, I did go to Cape Coral for a week to visit Darlene, loved it there.
