When Martha and I were traveling around Scotland, one of the sites we took in was the William Wallace Memorial. It is a 220-foot-tall tower on the shoulder of Abbey Craig, a hilltop overlooking Stirling in Scotland. It overlooks the fields where he led his troops to victory at the battle of Stirling Bridge. It offers a panoramic view of the countryside via a 246-step spiral staircase up the inside of the monument. Inside the museum portion are various relics from his past. William Wallace was between 6 feet 5 inches tall and 5 feet seven inches tall. The thing that astounded me was the length of his sword. It was 5 feet 8 inches long. He was played in the movie by Mel Gibson who is only 5 feet 10 inches tall. There is no way Mel could have swung that sword.

Martha then toured Stirling castle which she was very impressed with, While I played golf at the Stirling Club which had a view of the castle on every hole.

I have only watched the movie Brave Heart a little over a half a dozen times. It is still one of my favorites.
