I guess we are all suffering from the many telephone calls we get that are of so little value to us. Lately I have three types that are filling my days. The first are about improving my Medicare. The caller is recorded, so immediately it is a goofy conversation. They ask questions which it doesn’t really matter how you answer them, as you become eligible. Suddenly you are passed on to their supervisor who is warm and ask a couple of questions. In my case since I am 86 I am eligible for nothing. They hang up.
The irritating things about this, are that I have been on the no call list for 15 years. That does nothing for me as they are ghost calling over non useable phone number. Secondly, they say it is open season for renewal, which it isn’t. These are actually scam calls looking to get some information about you. You can hang up or ask them what your name is, and they will hang up.
I am getting a lot of calls from ambulance chasers who want to represent me in getting money from my accident. The accident was more than two and a half years ago, which exceeds the statute of limitations. But I ask them if we go to court and I am found guilty, how much are they goong to contribute, and they hang up.
The last type is the call for contributions for the police and sheriff’s organizations. It is a fact that most of these callers are part of a third-party organization and have not real allegiance to the police and sheriff organizations. The real crime here is that less than 10% of the money collected goes to the police and sheriff.
A last thought, I believe that AT&T has the technology to prevent these calls. They just haven’t figured out how to do it at a profit.
