When I lost my best friend and wife, my daughters were concerned that I was just follow. So to keep their minds at ease, I would send a picture of something I cooked. Then they got the bright idea with their friend Katie that i should have an Instagram account and post on it.

Well, I was not in favor of this. I know how toxic Face Book is. My opinion on that is that when the last person who knows anything bad about me has been dead ten years, I might give it a shot. But they continued to pressure me, and I finally gave in. So, for a year I posted meals I cooked, and had about 60 followers. They were mostly friends of my daughters. After a year of this, I felt that it wasn’t something that was doing much.

So I decided to change and post videos. For many years I made Saturday morning breakfast for Martha. It was special and I really enjoyed doing it. So, the next Saturday I posted Martha’s breakfast. It included two skillet poached eggs, two slices of bacon, a pile of crispy hash brown potatoes, some fruit, a cinnamon roll, and a hot cup of coffee. I voiced over the video with a history of the breakfast and how I still do it in Martha’s honor. I didn’t realize it at the time, but Sirius Satellite radio playing Willie’s Roadhouse was playing in the background on my Google mini.

Sunday, I decided to go a little crazy and posted a breakfast of fried chicken, waffles, fruit, and a hot cup of coffee. I voiced over that I had been to church and prayed for all my followers and listed as many as I could think of. I got comments back that i had left some of them out. I adjusted with a plan to include everyone.

During the week I have cereal, fruit, half a bagel with crunchy peanut butter and a hot cup of coffee. My tag line of a hot cup of coffee, also include positive thought for them to get their lives in order and follow their dreams.

I can’t explain what has happened, but I have over 48,000 followers. The hits are in the millions, and I can honestly say, it is one of the friendliest groups on the internet. I don’t try to explain it, I just enjoy all the new friends I have made.

My thanks to Julie, Stacey, and Katie.
