I have a new hobby; it has to do with my email. My daily routine is to go on my computer and bring up my email. Then I go through the list and read some and delete a lot. Mail I get from family I read and respond to if necessary. This keeps me up on what is going on with the family since they all live somewhere else.

Next is the appointments and doctors’ visits to make sure I don’t miss one. This information is transferred to my calendar.

Next are my bills and purchases. My regular household expenses I have set up on autopay, but I need to check that they are reasonable and right. Also, any purchases that I have ordered have arrived, or need to be checked on.

Next are emails from friends and acquaintances. I go through these and ignore or respond as is necessary.

On the average I get between fifty and sixty-five emails a day. The ones I have mentioned in this article account for five or ten a day. The remainder have become my new hobby. These cover my hearing, my sex life, my weight, my diet, my insurance, and heaven only know what else.

I spend about a half hour each morning unsubscribing from all of these. I have been doing this for a couple of weeks now, and the number of emails isn’t getting less. I hope that eventually I will make progress. Meanwhile it is my new hobby
