I was just 10 years old and don’t remember a lot. but one I do remember is that some new products came out. One of them was Reddi Whip. I guess in the past it always had to be home made for your deserts. But that year it came out in a can. My parents just had to try it. So, Mom made her pineapple upside down cake for the occasion. Then after Sunday dinner she cut up pieces for each of us on little plates.

Then Dad took the can and read the directions on it to all of us. One was to vigorously shake before using. He then pressed the button on the top, and proceeded to gives all a bath in whipped topping. What a mess. We laughed so hard. Eventually he became quite expert at dispensing it. Thank goodness.

You are going to find this hard to believe, but that was the year the frisbee was invented. Inspired by some students tossing a pie pan around Wham-O began manufacturing the toy. It was also the year that Cheetos by Frito Lay became a shelf item. Dial soap came to market that year also.
